context

Decades of Israeli territorial, demographic, and economic policies, have deliberately and systematically thwarted growth of Palestinian neighbourhoods in East Jerusalem, resulting in inadequate provision of basic community services as enshrined by the Universal Declaration of Human Rights.

Notwithstanding its volatile and sensitive political status, authentic opportunities do exist to support sustained socio-economic growth and development of Palestinian society in East Jerusalem.

focus

Joud Foundation has developed an innovative international mechanism for sustainable community development of Palestinians in East Jerusalem.

The mechanism is inspired and guided by the philosophy of the UN Sustainable Development Goals, specifically SDG 3: Good Health and Wellbeing, SDG4: Quality Education, and SDG 11: Sustainable Cities and Communities addressing safe, resilient, and sustainable community.

Joud Foundation's bold and ambitious mechanism provides global legal, planning, and financial expertise.

The mechanism addresses several key sectors including affordable housing, communal services and public space development, social and cultural resilience, as well as urban economy providing training, upskilling, and enhancing employability.

purpose

Joud Foundation is an independent, apolitical, Swiss non-profit organisation aiming to promote a peaceful and prosperous future in the region.

The purpose of Joud Foundation is to support the continued presence and flourishing livelihood of Palestinians in East Jerusalem.

By promoting East Jerusalem's development, and safeguarding its multicultural identity, Joud Foundation endeavours to reduce mounting tension in this city of peace.

Joud Foundation seeks to facilitate development work in East Jerusalem, working with aid and development agencies who, whilst having the appetite and experience, do not currently have arrangements, facilities, or presence on the ground to undertake their work, or may wish to increase their footprint in East Jerusalem.
